GENESIS 1
Beginnings
1 In the very beginning, God created the heavens and earth - everything we see in the sky and on our planet.
2 Back then, the earth was just a shapeless, empty mess, all dark and mysterious. But God's Spirit was already there, moving over the waters.
3 God decided it was time for light, so He said, "Let there be light." And light appeared.
4 God saw the light and was pleased; it was a good thing. He made a clear distinction between light and darkness.
5 He named the light "Day" and the darkness "Night." So, the first period of evening and morning came and went - that was day one.
6 Next, God spoke again, "Let's make a huge space between the waters, separating water from water."
7 And that's exactly what happened. God made this vast space and divided the waters below from the waters above.
8 He called this space "Sky." The second day ended just like the first - with an evening and a morning.
9 Then God commanded, "Let the waters under the sky come together in one place, and let dry land appear." It all happened as He said.
10 He named the dry land "Earth" and the gathered waters "Seas." God looked at it all and was pleased with what He saw.
11 God then said, "Let the earth sprout with all sorts of plants and trees, ones that produce seeds and fruits." And so, it was.
12 The earth was soon covered with plants and trees of all kinds, each with seeds according to its kind. And God saw that this too was good.
13 Another day concluded - the third, with its evening and morning.
14 On the fourth day, God spoke, "Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night, to mark the seasons, days, and years.
15 They'll shine on the earth." And that's exactly what happened.
16 God made two great lights - a larger one to rule the day and a smaller one to rule the night, along with the stars.
17 He placed them in a vault called the sky to light up the earth,
18 To take charge of the day and night, and to distinguish between light and darkness. God saw that this was good too.
19 So, the fourth day ended, marked by its evening and morning.
20 On the fifth day, God commanded, "Let the waters be filled with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the sky."
21 God created great sea creatures and all types of swimming and flying beings, each according to its kind. And God was pleased with them.
22 He blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters in the seas; let the birds multiply on the earth."
23 Evening passed and morning came - that was the fifth day.
24 The next day, God said, "Let the earth produce all kinds of living creatures: livestock, crawling creatures, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it happened just like that.
25 The earth was filled with all kinds of animals, each according to its kind. And God saw that this was also good.
26 Then God had a special plan, "Let's make humans, in our image, resembling us. They'll be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals, and everything that scurries on the ground."
27 So, God created humans to be like Himself; He made them male and female.
28 God blessed them and said, "Have lots of children, fill the earth, and take charge of it. Be responsible for the fish, birds, and all living things on earth."
29 God also said, "Look, I've given you every plant that has seeds and every tree with fruit that has seeds. They're yours for food.
30 And for all the wild animals, birds, and creatures that crawl on the earth, I've provided green plants for food." And so, it was.
31 Finally, God looked over everything He had made, and it was excellent in every way. The sixth day came to an end with its evening and morning.
GENESIS 2

1 So, the everything in the heavens and earth were created, everything in place.
2 By the time the seventh day came around, God had finished his creative work, so he took a well-deserved rest that day from all his work.
3 And God decided to bless this seventh day and make it special, because it was the day he rested after all his creation work.
Adam and Eve
4 This is the story of how the sky and earth were created, when the Lord God made them.
5 Back then, there weren't any plants or shrubs around because God hadn't sent rain yet, and there was no one to take care of the land.
6 But water used to come up from under the earth and water all the land's surface.
7 Then the Lord God shaped a man from the dirt, breathed life into his nostrils, and the man came to life.
8 The Lord God had already planted a beautiful garden, called Eden, in the east, and that's where he put the man he had made.
9 God made all kinds of trees grow there, trees that were nice to look at and good for food. The tree of life and the tree of knowing good and evil were in the middle of this garden.
10 A river that watered the garden flowed from Eden and split into four branches after that.
11 The first is called Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, a place known for its gold.
12 (And the gold there is top-notch; there's also aromatic resin and onyx stone.)
13 The second river is called Gihon; it flows around the whole land of Cush.
14 The third river is the Tigris, running east of Ashur, and the fourth one is the Euphrates.
15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend it and watch over it.
16 And the Lord God told him, "Feel free to eat from any tree in the garden;
17 but stay away from the tree of knowing good and evil, because if you eat from it, you'll surely die."
18 The Lord God thought, "It's not good for the man to be by himself. I'll make a companion for him who matches him perfectly."
19 The Lord God had already created all kinds of wild animals and birds from the earth. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living thing, that became its name.
20 So, the man gave names to all the livestock, birds, and wild animals. But for Adam, there was still no perfect match.
21 So the Lord God made him fall into a deep sleep; while he was sleeping, God took one of his ribs and then sealed up the spot.
22 From the rib, the Lord God crafted a woman and brought her to the man.
23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she came from man."
24 That's why a man leaves his parents and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh, a single unit.
25 Adam and his wife were both naked, but they felt no embarrassment at all.
GENESIS 3

The Fall of Mankind
1 The serpent was sneakier than any other wild animal God had made. He asked the woman, "Did God really tell you not to eat from any tree in the garden?"
2 The woman answered the serpent, "We can eat the fruit from the trees in the garden.
3 But about the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, 'Don't eat it or even touch it, or you'll die.'"
4 The serpent told the woman, "You won't die!
5 God knows that when you eat from it, you'll see things differently, and you'll be just like God, knowing both good and bad."
6 The woman saw the fruit looked delicious and would make her wise, so she ate some. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it too.
7 Suddenly, they realized they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.
8 Later, when they heard God walking in the garden during the cool part of the day, they hid among the trees.
9 God called to the man, "Where are you?"
10 He said, "I heard you in the garden, and I was scared because I was naked, so I hid."
11 God asked, "Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree I told you not to eat from?"
12 The man said, "The woman you put here with me gave me the fruit, and I ate it."
13 God asked the woman, "What have you done?" She replied, "The serpent tricked me, and I ate."
14 Then God said to the serpent, "Because you've done this, 'You're cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You'll crawl on your belly, eating dust all your life.
15 I'll create hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers. He will crush your head, and you'll strike his heel.'"
16 To the woman, he said, "I'll greatly increase your pain in childbirth; in pain, you'll give birth. You'll desire your husband, but he'll rule over you."
17 To Adam, he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree I warned you about, 'You've cursed the ground because of what you did; with hard work, you'll get food from it all your life.
18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you, and you'll eat the plants of the field.
19 You'll sweat to get your food until you return to the ground because you were taken from it. You were made from dust, and you'll return to dust.'"
20 Adam named his wife Eve because she would become the mother of all who live.
21 God made clothes from animal skins for Adam and his wife and dressed them.
22 Then God said, "Now that the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must not be allowed to eat from the tree of life and live forever."
23 So God sent him out of the Garden of Eden forever to farm the land he was made from.
24 As he was leaving, God placed an angel with a flaming sword that turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.
GENESIS 4
The Brothers Cain and Abel
1 Adam and Eve made love, and Eve became pregnant. She gave birth to Cain and said, "I have had a baby boy with the Lord's help!"
2 Later, she had another son, Abel. Abel took care of sheep, while Cain worked the land.
3 After some time, Cain brought fruits from his land as an offering to the Lord.
4 Abel also gave an offering – the best parts from some of his firstborn sheep. The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering,
5 but He did not look favorably on Cain and his offering. Cain became really upset and looked sad.
6 The Lord asked Cain, "Why are you so upset and sad?
7 If you do what's right, won't you be accepted? But if you don't do right, be careful; sin is waiting to trap you, and you need to overcome it."
8 Cain said to Abel, "Let's go out to the field." When they were there, Cain attacked Abel and killed him.
9 The Lord asked Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" Cain answered, "I don't know. Am I supposed to look after my brother?"
10 Then the Lord said, "What have you done? Your brother's blood is calling out to me from the ground.
11 Now you are cursed, separated from the land that opened its mouth to take your brother's blood from your hand.
12 When you work the land, it won't give you its best. You will wander the earth restlessly."
13 Cain said to the Lord, "This punishment is too hard for me.
14 You're driving me away, and I'll be hidden from You. I'll wander the earth, and anyone who finds me might kill me."
15 But the Lord said, "No, if anyone kills Cain, they will suffer much worse." The Lord marked Cain so no one would kill him.
16 Cain left the Lord's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
17 Cain was with his wife, and she had a son, Enoch. Cain built a city and named it after Enoch. 18 Enoch had a son, Irad. Irad fathered Mehujael, Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushael fathered Lamech.
19 Lamech married two women, Adah and Zillah.
20 Adah had Jabal; he was the first to live in tents and keep livestock.
21 His brother was Jubal, the first to play stringed instruments and flutes.
22 Zillah had Tubal-Cain, who made tools from bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain had a sister named Naamah.
23 Lamech told his wives: "Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear what I say. I have killed a man for hurting me, a young man for hitting me.
24 If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech 77 times."
25 Adam and Eve had another son. Eve named him Seth, saying, "God has given me another child in place of Abel, because Cain killed him."
26 Seth had a son named Enosh. At that time, people started to worship the Lord by name.
GENESIS 5
The Family Line of Adam to Noah
1 This is the story of Adam and his descendants.
2 When God created humans, he made them reflecting his own nature. He created them as male and female, blessing them. At their creation, God called them "Humanity."
3 Adam was 130 years old when he had a son, who was just like him. He named his son Seth.
4 After Seth's birth, Adam lived for another 800 years, during which he had many more sons and daughters.
5 Adam's life spanned 930 years, and then he passed away.
6 Seth was 105 when he fathered Enosh.
7 After Enosh was born, Seth lived 807 more years, having more children.
8 In total, Seth lived 912 years before he died.
9 Enosh was 90 when he became the father of Kenan.
10 After Kenan's birth, Enosh lived another 815 years and had more children.
11 Enosh's life lasted 905 years, and then he died.
12 Kenan was 70 when he fathered Mahalalel.
13 After Mahalalel was born, Kenan lived 840 more years, with more sons and daughters.
14 Kenan's life totaled 910 years, then he died.
15 When Mahalalel was 65, he fathered Jared.
16 After Jared's birth, Mahalalel lived 830 more years, having additional children.
17 Mahalalel lived for 895 years in total, then he died.
18 Jared was 162 when he became the father of Enoch.
19 After Enoch was born, Jared lived 800 more years, having more sons and daughters.
20 Jared lived for a total of 962 years, then he died.
21 Enoch was 65 when Methuselah was born to him.
22 After Methuselah's birth, Enoch walked closely with God for 300 years and had more children.
23 Enoch's life was 365 years long.
24 He was close with God and then he was no longer there, for God took him.
25 Methuselah was 187 when he fathered Lamech.
26 After Lamech was born, Methuselah lived 782 more years, having other children.
27 Methuselah lived for 969 years, then he died.
28 Lamech was 182 when he had a son.
29 He named him Noah, saying, "He will bring us relief from our work and the hard labor of farming this cursed ground."
30 After Noah's birth, Lamech lived 595 years and had more children.
31 Lamech's life spanned 777 years, then he died.
32 At the age of 500, Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
GENESIS 6
The Wicked World
1 As the human population grew and daughters were born,
2 the sons of God noticed that these human daughters were attractive, and they married whoever they wanted.
3 The Lord then declared, "My Spirit won't put up with humans for too long, as they're mere mortals; their lifespan will be limited to 120 years."
4 In those days, and even later, the Nephilim were on earth when the sons of God had children with human daughters. These offspring became famous warriors and legendary figures.
5 God observed the extensive evil of humanity on earth, with every thought and intention of the human heart always bent toward evil.
6 God regretted creating humans, feeling deeply saddened in His heart.
7 So, He decided, "I'll wipe out humans, along with animals, birds, and crawling creatures, as I regret making them."
8 But Noah found special favor with God.
Noah and the Flood
9 This is the story of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous and faultless man in his generation who walked closely with God.
10 He had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth was morally corrupt in God's sight and filled with violence.
12 Seeing the earth's immorality, for everyone had lost their moral compass,
13 God said to Noah, "I've decided to put an end to all people because the earth is overrun with their violence. I'll wipe them out along with the earth.
14 Make an ark from cypress wood, build compartments in it, and waterproof it inside and out.
15 Here's how to build it: The ark should be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.
16 Construct a roof for it, leaving an 18-inch gap just below the roof all around. Put a door in the ark's side and build it with lower, middle, and upper decks.
17 I'll bring a flood that will destroy all life under the sky—every creature with life in it. Everything on earth will die,
18 but I'll make a covenant with you. You, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives will survive in the ark.
19 Bring a pair of every living creature, a male and a female, into the ark to keep them alive with you.
20 Include male and female pairs of birds, livestock, and crawling creatures to be saved.
21 Also, gather all kinds of food to eat and store it, so you and the animals have enough to eat."
22 Noah did exactly as God had commanded him.
GENESIS 7
1 God spoke to Noah, "Enter the ark with your entire family, for you alone are righteous in this time.
2 Bring seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, both male and female, and one pair of every unclean animal.
3 Also, bring seven pairs of all kinds of birds. This is to ensure all these creatures continue to live on the earth.
4 In seven days, I'm going to make it rain for 40 days and nights, erasing every living thing I've created from the earth."
5 Noah did everything exactly as God had instructed.
6 Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters engulfed the earth.
7 Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, went into the ark to avoid the flood.
8 Clean and unclean animals, birds, and all ground creatures,
9 in pairs, male and female, came to Noah into the ark, as God had directed.
10 After seven days, the floodwaters hit the earth.
11 In Noah's 600th year, on the 17th day of the second month, the earth's deep springs exploded and the sky's floodgates opened.
12 It rained non-stop for 40 days and nights.
13 On that day, Noah, along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, his wife, and his sons' wives, boarded the ark.
14 They brought every kind of wild animal, livestock, crawling creatures, and bird, each according to its kind.
15 Pairs of all creatures with the breath of life entered the ark with Noah.
16 The animals entered, male and female of every living species, as God had instructed Noah. Then God sealed them inside.
17 The flood continued for 40 days, and the waters lifted the ark high above the earth.
18 The waters rose and swelled greatly, and the ark floated on the water's surface.
19 The water surged over the earth, covering all the high mountains.
20 The water rose over the mountains by more than 22 feet.
21 Every land creature died—birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all swarming creatures, and all humans.
22 Everything that breathed on dry land perished.
23 Every living thing on earth was wiped out, from people to animals, crawling creatures, and birds. Only Noah and those with him in the ark survived.
24 The waters flooded the earth for 150 days.
GENESIS 8
1 But God remembered Noah and all the animals and livestock in the ark. He sent a wind across the earth, and the waters began to go down.
2 The deep springs and the sky's floodgates were shut, and the rain stopped.
3 Slowly but surely, the water level on earth dropped. After 150 days, the water had decreased significantly.
4 On the 17th day of the seventh month, the ark settled on the Ararat mountains.
5 The water kept going down, and by the first day of the tenth month, mountain peaks started to appear.
6 After 40 days, Noah opened a window he had made in the ark.
7 He sent out a raven, which flew around until the earth dried up.
8 Next, he sent out a dove to check if the water had lowered enough to expose the ground.
9 But the dove couldn't find a place to land because of the water everywhere, so it returned to the ark. Noah reached out, took the dove, and brought it back inside.
10 Seven days later, he sent the dove out again.
11 This time, the dove came back in the evening with a fresh olive leaf! Noah now knew the water had receded from the earth.
12 He waited another seven days and sent the dove out once more, but it didn't come back.
13 By the first day of the first month of Noah's 601st year, the earth had dried up. Noah removed the ark's covering and saw that the ground was dry.
14 By the 27th day of the second month, the earth was completely dry.
15 Then God spoke to Noah,
16 "Come out of the ark, you and your wife, your sons, and their wives.
17 Bring out every living creature with you—birds, animals, and all creatures that crawl on the ground—so they can multiply, fill the earth, and increase in number."
18 So, Noah came out with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives.
19 All the animals, crawling creatures, and birds came out of the ark, group by group, one by one.
20 Noah then built an altar to the Lord. He took some of all the clean animals and birds and offered them as burnt sacrifices on the altar.
21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and thought, "I will never again curse the ground because of humans, even though every thought in their hearts is inclined to evil from childhood. And I will never again destroy all living creatures as I have done.
22 "As long as the earth exists, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, and these will never stop."
GENESIS 9
God's Makes a Covenant with Noah
1 God blessed Noah and his sons, saying, "Grow your families, multiply, and fill the earth.
2 All animals on earth, birds in the sky, creatures on the ground, and fish in the sea will fear you. They are all under your control.
3 You can eat them, just as you eat green plants. Now, all living things are yours to eat."
4 "But don't eat meat with its lifeblood still in it.
5 I will hold everyone accountable for spilled blood, whether animal or human. Anyone who kills a human will answer for it, for humans are made in God's image."
6 "If anyone takes a human life, their life will also be taken by others. This is because humans are made in the likeness of God."
7 "Keep growing your numbers and populate the earth."
8 Then God spoke to Noah and his sons,
9 "I am making a promise to you, your descendants, and all living creatures with you - birds, livestock, and wild animals that came out of the ark - every creature on earth.
10 I promise never to flood the earth again to destroy all life.
11 There will never be a flood to wipe out the earth."
12 God continued, "Here is a sign of the promise I make to you and every living creature for all future generations:
13 I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with the earth.
14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and a rainbow appears,
15 I will remember my promise to you and all living creatures. Never again will floodwaters destroy all life.
16 When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the everlasting covenant between me and all living creatures on earth."
17 So, God said to Noah, "This rainbow is the sign of the covenant I have established with all life on earth."
The Sons of Noah
18 Noah's sons who left the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was Canaan's father.)
19 These three were Noah's sons, and their descendants spread across the earth.
20 Noah, a farmer, planted a vineyard.
21 After drinking some wine, he became drunk and was uncovered inside his tent.
22 Ham, Canaan's father, saw his father's nakedness and told his brothers outside.
23 Shem and Japheth took a garment, walked backward, and covered their father without looking at him.
24 When Noah sobered up and learned what his youngest son had done,
25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers."
26 He also declared, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem! Let Canaan be Shem's slave.
27 May God expand Japheth's land; let Japheth share in Shem's tents, and let Canaan be his slave."
28 Noah lived for 350 years after the flood.
29 In total, Noah lived 950 years before he died.
Genesis 10
1 This tells the story of Noah's sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth and their children born after the flood.
The Japhethites
2 Japheth's sons were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek, and Tiras.
3 Gomer's sons were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 Javan's sons were Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites.
5 Their descendants became seafaring tribes, each spreading into different lands, forming their own clans and languages.
The Hamites
6 Ham's sons were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
7 Cush's sons were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteka. Raamah's sons were Sheba and Dedan.
8 Cush was also the father of Nimrod, who became a renowned warrior.
9 He was famous as a mighty hunter, leading to the saying, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord."
10 He established powerful cities: Babylon, Uruk, Akkad, and Kalneh in Shinar.
11 He then expanded to Assyria, building Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,
12 and Resen, the great city between Nineveh and Calah.
13 Egypt fathered the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,
14 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (ancestors of the Philistines), and Caphtorites.
15 Canaan's first son was Sidon, followed by the Hittites,
16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,
17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18 Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. Their clans spread out,
19 with Canaan's territory extending from Sidon to Gerar near Gaza, and toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.
20 These were Ham's descendants, organized by clans and languages, in their lands and nations.
The Semites
21 Shem also had sons. He was the older brother of Japheth and the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.
22 Shem's sons were Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23 Aram's sons were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshek.
24 Arphaxad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber.
25 Eber had two sons: one named Peleg (for in his time the earth was divided), and his brother Joktan.
26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan's sons.
30 They settled from Mesha to Sephar in the eastern hills.
31 These were Shem's descendants, organized by clans and languages, in their lands and nations.
32 These clans descended from Noah's sons, grouped within their nations. From these, the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
Genesis 11
The Tower of Babel
1 At this time, the entire world spoke one language and used the same words.
2 As people traveled east, they discovered a plain in Shinar and decided to settle there.
3 They said to each other, "Let's make bricks and bake them until they're hard." They used bricks instead of stone and tar for mortar.
4 Then they said, "Let's build a city for ourselves, with a tower that reaches to the sky, to make a name for ourselves and avoid being scattered all over the world."
5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower they were building.
6 The Lord said, "Look, they are one people, speaking the same language. This is just the beginning of what they will do. Soon, nothing will be impossible for them.
7 Let's go down and mix up their language so they won't understand each other."
8 So, the Lord scattered them from there over the entire earth, and they stopped building the city.
9 That's why it was named Babel, because it was there that the Lord confused the language of the whole world, and from there, He scattered them over the face of the earth.
From Shem to Abram
10 Here's the story of Shem's family line. Two years after the flood, at 100 years old, Shem had a son named Arphaxad.
11 After Arphaxad was born, Shem lived another 500 years, having more sons and daughters.
12 When Arphaxad was 35, he had a son named Shelah.
13 After Shelah's birth, Arphaxad lived another 403 years, having more children.
14 Shelah was 30 when he became the father of Eber.
15 After Eber's birth, Shelah lived another 403 years, having more children.
16 At 34, Eber had a son named Peleg.
17 After Peleg was born, Eber lived another 430 years, having more children.
18 Peleg was 30 when he had Reu.
19 After Reu's birth, Peleg lived another 209 years, having more children.
20 Reu was 32 when he became the father of Serug.
21 After Serug was born, Reu lived another 207 years, having more children.
22 Serug was 30 when he had Nahor.
23 After Nahor's birth, Serug lived another 200 years, having more children.
24 At 29, Nahor became the father of Terah.
25 After Terah was born, Nahor lived another 119 years, having more children.
26 Terah was 70 years old when he had Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
Abram's Family
27 Here's the account of Terah's family. Terah had three sons: Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran was the father of Lot.
28 Haran died in his hometown, Ur of the Chaldeans, while his father Terah was still alive.
29 Abram and Nahor both got married. Abram's wife was Sarai, and Nahor's wife was Milkah, the daughter of Haran, who was also the father of Milkah and Iskah.
30 Sarai couldn't have children because she was infertile.
31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (Haran's son), and his daughter-in-law Sarai (Abram's wife). They left Ur of the Chaldeans to travel to Canaan. But when they reached Harran, they settled there instead.
32 Terah lived for 205 years and died in Harran.
